Hankinnan kohteena on talouden ja toiminnanohjauksen järjestelmäkokonaisuus sekä siihen liittyvä toimitusprojekti. Hankintaan sisältyvät muun muassa ohjelmistot ja käyttöoikeudet, tarvittavat palvelu- ja kapasiteettiympäristöt, integraatiot, tietokonversiot, koulutus, dokumentaatio, käyttöönotto-, tuki- ja ylläpitopalvelut sekä järjestelmän jatkuva kehittäminen. Toimituskokonaisuus hankitaan pääosin kokonaistoimituksena. Hankintayksikkö tavoittelee nykyaikaista, pitkäikäistä ja ylläpidettävää ratkaisua. Ensisijaisena vaihtoehtona pidetään roolipohjaista SaaS-palvelua, jossa tiedot sijaitsevat EU-/ETA-alueella. Ratkaisun tulee tukea integraatioita, automaatiota, raportointia, tiedolla johtamista sekä tulevaisuudessa myös tekoälyn hyödyntämistä. Rajapintojen tulee olla tietoturvallisia, valvottavia ja mahdollistaa tiedon hyödyntäminen myös muissa tietojärjestelmissä ja data-alustoissa. Hankinnan keskeisenä tavoitteena on turvata konsernin talouden ja liiketoimintaprosessien jatkuvuus, vähentää manuaalista työtä, yhtenäistää master-dataa, mahdollistaa ajantasainen raportointi sekä varmistaa lakisääteisten ja viranomaisvaatimusten täyttäminen koko järjestelmänelinkaaren ajan.[E7]
