Die Ausschreibung beinhaltet die Planung für einen Ersatzneubau des Hamm-Brücher-Stegs am südlichen Rand der Kernstadt einschließlich landschaftsarchitektonischer Gestaltung der Übergangsbereiche zwischen Brücke, Verkehrsanlage und Grünraum. Der Hamm-Brücher-Steg hat als Rad- und Fußverkehrsbrücke eine entscheidende Bedeutung für den Öffentlichen Personennahverkehr und die Nahmobilität in Marburg. Er verbindet Südbahnhof und Busbahnhof über die Gleisanlagen der Main-Weser-Bahn und die Bundesstraße 3 mit der Kernstadt sowie Bus-Umsteigehaltestellen untereinander. Der Südbahnhof ist ein regionaler Verkehrsknotenpunkt und verfügt über zwei Gleise mit Seitenbahnsteigen. Er wird von Regionalbahnlinien bedient, die werktags etwa alle 30 Minuten verkehren. Das aktuelle Brückenbauwerk wird den Qualitätsanforderungen der Stadt Marburg und der Deutschen Bahn und den Anforderungen an die Barrierefreiheit nicht gerecht und nähert sich gleichzeitig dem Ende seiner Lebensdauer. Die Stadt Marburg hat im Jahr 2025 eine Machbarkeitsstudie erstellen lassen, um die Kosten und den Aufwand für einen barrierefreien Ersatzneubau zu ermitteln und mögliche Fördermöglichkeiten sowie die zukünftige Zusammenarbeit mit der Deutschen Bahn und Hessen Mobil zu eruieren. Die Universitätsstadt Marburg verfolgt den Ersatzneubau mit hoher Priorität und in Abstimmung mit der Deutschen Bahn und Hessen Mobil. Die Bauphase soll nach dem Zeitplan im 1. Quartal 2028 beginnen. Bis dahin muss die Leistungsphase 7 abgeschlossen sein. Für das Projekt wurden bereits Sperrpausen bei der Deutschen Bahn für die Jahre 2029 …[E17]
