MINISTRY OF MINERALS AND ENERGY PROJECTS AND ENERGY DEVELOPMENT UNIT (PEDU) Invitation for Expression of Interest Consulting Services- Firms Selection Geotechnical Studies for a Wind Farm in Botswana Assignment Title: Consultancy Services for Geotechnical Studies for a Wind Farm Site Reference: EOI/MME-PEDU/002/26-27 BACKGROUND Botswana plans to harness its renewable energy (RE) resources and accelerate renewable energy development through the implementation of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP). The Government of Botswana is currently developing renewable energy projects at several pre-selected sites. The Project and Energy Development Unit (PEDU) under the Ministry of Minerals and Energy (the Client) is responsible for the development of these projects. A feasibility consultant has identified a proposed site for a wind farm based on a multi-criteria assessment considering preliminary wind resource data, transmission infrastructure, land use and ownership, and preliminary environmental and social considerations. The geotechnical studies will support the development of a proposed 100 MW wind farm located north of Letlhakane, Botswana. The final coordinates and boundaries of the area to be investigated will be confirmed by the Client prior to commencement of the assignment.
