Die 50Hertz Transmission GmbH plant im Zuge der Energiewende sowie zur Gewährleistung einer sicheren und bedarfsgerechten Energieversorgung die Umsetzung des im Bundesbedarfsplangesetz (BBPlG) als Vorhaben Nr. 52 ausgewiesenen Projekts „Höchstspannungsleitung Güstrow – Bentwisch – Gnewitz (vormals Sanitz/Gnewitz/Dettmannsdorf/Marlow); Drehstrom-Nennspannung 380 kV“. Das Gesamtvorhaben umfasst die beiden Einzelmaßnahmen „Bentwisch – Güstrow“ und „Bentwisch – Gnewitz“. Es dient der Verstärkung des Übertragungsnetzes in der Region Rostock sowie der Aufnahme und dem Weitertransport regenerativ erzeugter Energie, insbesondere aus Offshore-Windenergieanlagen in der Ostsee. Die geplante Höchstspannungsleitung verläuft im Landkreis Rostock des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und gliedert sich in zwei Genehmigungsabschnitte: Abschnitt 1 von Bentwisch nach Gnewitz, Trassenlänge ca. 19 km, Abschnitt 2 von Bentwisch nach Güstrow, Trassenlänge ca. 38 km. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Unterlagen ist ausschließlich der südliche Abschnitt 2 zwischen dem Umspannwerk (UW) Bentwisch und dem UW Güstrow. Dieser Abschnitt umfasst die Errichtung und den Betrieb einer rund 38 km langen 380-kV-Höchstspannungsfreileitung. Die Leitung wird überwiegend als Parallelneubau zur bestehenden 380-kV-Freileitung Bentwisch – Güstrow (543/544) errichtet und stellt einen wesentlichen Baustein der Netzverstärkung in der Region Rostock dar.
