REPUBLIC OF UGANDA UGANDA-TANZANIA INTERCONNECTOR PROJECT (UTIP) Energy (Power Transmission) GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE Credit No./Grant No.: IDA-80320 Project ID No.: P513494 The Government of the Republic of Uganda has applied for financing in the amount of US$250 million equivalent from the World Bank toward the cost of the 400 kV Uganda-Tanzania Interconnector Project (UTIP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, non-consulting services and consulting services to be procured under this project. The Uganda portion shall be implemented by the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL). The Project Development Objective is to increase electricity connectivity and trade between Uganda and Tanzania. The project will include the following components: Component 1: Transmission Lines and Substations. This component will include construction of approx. 258 km of 400 kV double circuit overhead transmission line from Wobulenzi to Masaka (approx. 166 km) and from Masaka to the Uganda-Tanzania border at Mutukula (approx. 92 km). It also covers construction of a new 400/220/33 kV substation at Masaka and extension of the Wobulenzi 400 kV substation, with all associated primary, secondary and auxiliary equipment and civil works.
